About

An independent guide, not the official site.

Home › About

This is an independent guide to Neuschwanstein Castle, the English edition of neuschwansteinbavaria.eu, a multilingual guide to the castle and the trip around it. It is not the official site and not a ticket office: entry tickets are sold by the Bavarian Palace Administration, and day trips with the ticket included by GetYourGuide and Tiqets.

Why it exists

The official pages tell you the price and the hours, but not how to fit the castle into a day from Munich, which train to catch for a 13:00 slot, or what to do when the shop shows nothing for your date. Visitors from the UK, the US and everywhere else ask the same questions, and this guide answers them in plain English without inventing a single price or rule.

Sources and updates

Prices, opening hours and the rules at the entrance are checked against the Bavarian Palace Administration (neuschwanstein.de) and the Ticket Center Hohenschwangau (hohenschwangau.de); the history draws on Wikipedia and the administration's own publications. Where there is no official figure, we do not give one. If you find a mistake, write to us.

Links to GetYourGuide and Tiqets are affiliate links: if you book through them we earn a commission and your price does not change. That is what keeps the guide online. The link to the official shop is not an affiliate link.
